Vice President Biden to Deliver Remarks at U.S.-China Climate Summit
September 11, 2015
Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that Vice President Joe Biden will speak at the Closing Plenary Session of next week’s U.S.-China Climate Leaders Summit in Los Angeles. The Summit is the first official convening of U.S. and Chinese subnational leaders on climate change under the Climate Change Working Group and represents a key opportunity to galvanize climate action before December’s United Nations climate conference in Paris.
During the Summit, leading subnational officials from the U.S. and China will make new climate commitments and agreements and share best practices in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fight global climate change. Outcomes from the Summit will be discussed at the State Visit between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington, DC the following week.
