When you join the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps, you become an official representative of the Mayor of Los Angeles. The volunteer opportunities offered to Members are strategically selected to move forward Mayor Garcetti’s plan for a stronger Los Angeles.
All of the specialty corps are part of the Mayor’s Volunteer Corps. However, you can decide to only volunteer with one of the specialty corps. You may get emails from time-to-time asking for volunteers for a specialty corps event outside of the one that you usually volunteer with, but it’s up to you how you spend your volunteer time.
Yes! Los Angeles serves as a model for cities across the country. Show what the power of volunteering can do to getting key initiatives out of City Hall and into the community.
We understand that emergencies happen, people get sick, and guests sometimes make surprise visits. Please cancel on our website as soon as you know you will not be able to volunteer at an event. People with consistent late cancelations and no-shows will be asked to resign until they can recommit to the Corps.
The Mayor’s Volunteer Corps partners with City Departments and nonprofits to increase capacity and provide valuable services to the community. If you believe your nonprofit’s event aligns with one of the specialty corps concentrations, please feel free to send an email that describes the event. Include the location, how many volunteers you will need and volunteer shift time(s), whether volunteers will receive special training, and an impact report of prior events that utilized volunteers. Please note that volunteer opportunities are scheduled based on availability.
Yes! There are many opportunities to volunteer in the Family Corps for you, your family, and friends. If you are looking for something to do over the summer, there are some great paid job opportunities that also allow you to improve your community through Hire LA Youth.
