STATEMENT: Mayor Karen Bass issues statement following Monterey Park mass shooting

LOS ANGELES – Mayor Karen Bass today issued the following statement: 
 
"The reports coming out of Monterey Park are absolutely devastating. Families deserve to celebrate the holidays in peace — mass shootings and gun violence are a plague on our communities. As investigations determine whether these murders were motivated by Asian hate, we continue to stand united against all attempts to divide us. My heart goes out to Monterey Park and the families and friends of those lost."

LOS ANGELES – On Tuesday, January 24, Mayor Karen Bass will join elected officials and Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) leadership to kick off the annual Point-In-Time count, which provides a snapshot of how many people are experiencing homelessness across the City and County. As LAHSA seeks more volunteers to help with the 8,000 shifts required for the count, Mayor Bass is calling on Angelenos to join in the effort.

Mayor Bass, Councilwoman Park announce Inside Safe effort in Venice

VENICE – Mayor Karen Bass and Councilwoman Traci Park today announced that the Mayor’s new Inside Safe initiative is underway in Venice. Outreach has begun to people living in encampments surrounding the A Bridge Home site at the intersection of Sunset Avenue and Pacific Avenue, and people have already accepted housing. Inside Safe is a new, citywide, proactive housing-led strategy to bring people inside from tents and encampments for good, and to prevent encampments from returning.
