What is the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC)?
The Mayor’s Youth Council is a one year program that empowers Los Angeles high school students to advocate for causes relevant to youth and be the next generation of leaders in City Hall and beyond.
Who is eligible to be a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council?
Student leaders currently enrolled in high school from diverse educational backgrounds representing all 15 Los Angeles City Council Districts.
- The Youth Council will be divided into cohorts based on their respective areas.
- Monthly meetings will be facilitated by the respective Area Representative from the Mayor’s Office of Public Engagement from October 2021 to June 2022.
- Meetings will be held virtually twice a month in the fall (2nd and 4th Wednesday in the evening), with the possibility of meeting in person once a month in the spring (every 3rd Saturday). Dates are subject to change.

For returning members, it is important to note that each cohort will only be accepting 5 returning members. Those 5 members will serve as mentors for the 2021-22 cohort. As a mentor, you will be assigned a small group to support throughout the year.
