The Mayor's Office of International Affairs works to connect our diverse and dynamic local landscape to economic and cultural partners across the globe. Mayor Garcetti knows that L.A. is a truly international city — and our future prosperity, growth, success, and progress is tied, in part, to what happens far beyond our borders. Which is why he has made it a top priority to bring L.A. to the world and the world to L.A.
Our office helps advance that cause by expanding L.A.'s global connections; developing educational exchanges with counterparts abroad; working to encourage foreign investment that creates jobs here at home; and leading the charge on issues where cities have a key role to play — from the fight against climate change to the effort to implement the Sustainable Development Goals in the next decade. As part of its work, the international affairs team is working to prepare L.A. for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028 — ensuring we can welcome the world to a City that’s front and center on sustainability, inclusiveness, resiliency, and innovation.
