WHO WE ARE

The Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity’s (MOEO) mission is the prevention of homelessness and poverty, with compassion and inclusion; through education, training, employment and community development. Following the Mayor’s lead, MOEO strives to create initiatives that provide equitable access to prosperity for all Angelenos and their communities. MOEO supports departments that administer local, state, and federal programs designed to help support individuals and families, engage job seekers of all ages, and enhance our city’s diverse neighborhoods through community development efforts.

MOEO is open, inclusive and supportive. Our values include:

  • Inclusivity - our environment is open and supportive.
  • Respect - we have respect for one another and the work.
  • Accountability - we are accountable for our projected outcomes and deliverables.
  • Collaboration - we understand our responsibilities and acknowledge the contributions of others.

Collaboration is essential to MOEO’s success; requiring staff to seek partners, and be partners, internally and externally.  Successful collaboration is ensured through clear understanding of responsibilities, and willingness to acknowledge the skills and contributions of all parties.
