Mayor Garcetti nominates Cecilia Cabello to Board of Public Works

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Garcetti today nominated Cecilia Cabello to the Los Angeles Board of Public Works. She would succeed Board Vice President Heather Repenning, who is stepping down. Cabello — a veteran public policy expert who previously served as Director of Government Relations at the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters — is currently Chief of Staff to City Controller Ron Galperin.

From 2013-2017, Cabello served as Mayor Garcetti’s Director of Intergovernmental Relations, where she played a key role in advancing landmark initiatives like raising the minimum wage, repaving more than 10,000 miles of City streets, and securing billions of dollars in infrastructure funding. Prior to that, Cabello worked as Mayor Garcetti’s Senior Legislative Deputy and Special Projects Manager to then-Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis. A native Angeleno, Cabello is a graduate of Columbia University. Her nomination is subject to confirmation by the City Council.

“Cecilia is a respected leader and problem-solver who has worked tirelessly to improve and strengthen Los Angeles,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Her wealth of experience, progressive vision, and civic spirit will make her an instrumental voice on the Board of Public Works.”
