Mayor Garcetti gives federal workers extra time to pay utility bills during government shutdown

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti today announced a plan to give utility bill relief to federal employees and their families who are going without pay during the government shutdown.

The Mayor has directed LADWP and the Bureau of Sanitation to offer assistance and payment plans for water, power, sewer and trash services, including offering plans that spread payments out over an additional three to four months.

“This is a scary time for federal workers in Los Angeles and across America,” said Mayor Garcetti. “If the President is going to sit on his hands while these families go without paychecks, then we will do our part to help them make ends meet.”

Any customer who is a federal worker going without pay should contact LADWP immediately to learn more about these options at 1-800-DIAL-DWP.
