The Mayor's Office of Public Engagement is excited to announce the next edition of the Days of Compassion Civic University – a 3 day convening of faith communities – congregants, lay leaders, clergy and advocates. DoC Civic U works with attendees to develop a strong foundation for homeless service partnership, sharing comprehensive education, resources, and best practices, as we explore Hospitality Hubs, Safe Parking, Mobile Showers and more. Empowering congregations and building advocates for supportive housing is key to ending this moral crisis of homelessness. We invite you to join us!

Program Details
Day One: Homelessness 101 – This section of Civic U will provide an overview of homelessness in L.A., Measure HHH, Mayor Garcetti's Days of Compassion initiative, and our spiritual responsibility to help alleviate homelessness.

Day Two: Site Visits – Section 2 will provide a firsthand engagement opportunity for participants. Attendees will visit a Permanent Supportive Housing Site. During this portion of the CIVIC U, participants will be able to see the facilities, speak with service providers and learn about the processes that move homeless persons into sustainable housing. This section includes a deep-dive discussion on the PSH Ordinance, led by Cally Hardy.

Day Three: Recap and Planning – In the final section of the DOC CIVIC U, the participants will take part in small workshops, and recap and share feedback, learning and impact of the previous days. To culminate, each congregation represented will create an action plan to implement within their faith organization. This strategy will be designed for the capacity of the congregation, focused on their geographic service area and based on an identified population and service model.
