Earth Day is when we take a moment to appreciate the wonder that is our home.
In Los Angeles, we are privileged with an abundance of natural beauty, from the Pacific Ocean to our mountains.
But we cannot to take this place for granted.
One of my greatest pleasures is seeing the excitement of my young daughter as she encounters the natural world. I hope she always has that opportunity, but that depends on whether we act today.
Join me and Friends of the L.A. River for a cleanup this weekend so we can help restore the waterway that gave birth to our city.
The Friends of the L.A. River has organized a series of cleanups over the next few days and weeks. So if you can't make it this weekend, try to make it for a later date.

Happy Earth Day!
