Veronica PolancoWendy Castro is the daughter of immigrants and a first-generation college graduate. Originally from San Diego County, she moved to Los Angeles to attend Cal State LA and has lived in the City for almost 20 years.

Wendy is impassioned by her life experiences to lift up others through restorative justice practices and self empowerment. She is also an avid arts practitioner and teaching artist. Most recently, she worked at a juvenile justice diversion program where she recruited and trained volunteers to mediate conflict between youth who had committed crimes and their victims. Since 2018, she has been on the Boyle Heights Neighborhood Council (BHNC) in multiple capacities, including Vice President and Treasurer. During her tenure on the BHNC, she led the development and organized logistics for the BHNC's most well-attended event, as well as 25+ virtual events during the pandemic.  In her free time, Wendy enjoys traveling and writing. She is a published playwright through CASA 0101's Latina-lead playwright festival.
