Serapia Kim was born in Incheon, South Korea and has called Los Angeles her home since immigrating here at the age of nine. As a first-generation college student, she studied Political Economy at Williams College in Massachusetts.
Prior to joining the Mayor's office, she worked as a Field Representative for Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, who represents the areas of Downtown Los Angeles, Koreatown, and Boyle Heights in the 53rd Assembly District.
She was instrumental in connecting constituents, including Korean-speaking constituents, with critical services such as unemployment insurance, rental assistance, and COVID tests and vaccines. When Serapia is not working or volunteering at her local parish, she enjoys gardening, acrylic painting, and playing with her cat Lulu.
